The Hands Behind the Threads

Our story, philosophy, and the work we do.

We began making garments because we wanted to wear beautiful, practical clothing that we couldn't find anywhere else. What started with fantasy costumes and historical commissions grew into something much more personal when we began making clothing for our own rituals. In time, the garments themselves became part of our practice; a way of honoring tradition, working with our hands, and bringing intention into the things we create.

From our workshop in West Texas, we follow the threads of the Norse world along the old trade routes, drawing inspiration from the Varangians, the Rus, and the many cultures of the Silk Road. We work primarily with natural fibers because they are beautiful, breathable, durable, and practical, and because people relied on these materials for generations for very good reason. Our garments are historically informed, but made for the people who live in them today.

We believe making is a sacred act. A garment should not simply be something you put on; it should move with you through ritual, work, celebration, travel, and ordinary days. It should allow you to dance, garden, make music, gather with your community, or walk beneath the open sky without sacrificing comfort or beauty. We don't make costumes for people pretending to live another life. We make artisan garments for people who are already living theirs.

Garments Shaped as Devotional Art

We don't stop at the Viking Age. We follow the roads they traveled.

The Norse world was never isolated. The people who lived within it traveled, traded, settled, and built relationships across the vast networks connecting the north to Byzantium, the Rus lands, Central Asia, and beyond. Along those roads traveled more than people and goods. Ideas, stories, techniques, and textiles crossed borders and became something new.

That way of looking at the past resonates deeply with us.

We love seeing Nordic forms meet Byzantine silks, Slavic-inspired garments meet Mongolian textiles, and traditions that seem unrelated at first become something harmonious when brought together. We aren't trying to recreate one frozen moment in history. We are following the threads of connection and seeing where they lead.

Our garments are historically informed, with some modern liberties in construction and fit. We like to think of it as the time-machine test: if you stepped into the past wearing one of our garments, someone might ask where you came from, but they wouldn't look at you like an alien. The clothing should feel like it belongs.

That matters to us because our garments began as ritual garments. In our faith, practicality isn't separate from the sacred. The things we make, wear, use, and carry through the world should have purpose. Natural fibers, functional construction, freedom of movement, and durable materials aren't simply aesthetic choices. They are part of how we believe things should be made.

So we make clothing meant to be lived in. Clothing for ritual and celebration, for music and dancing, for working with your hands, for traveling, gathering, gardening, and simply being outside. Beautiful enough to feel special, practical enough to become part of your everyday life.

We follow the Silk Road because it is a story of movement, exchange, and transformation; a reminder that the things we carry forward are often changed by the hands that carry them.

And perhaps that is what we hope to do with our own work: take the threads of the past, weave them into the present, and make something worth carrying forward.
